HP LaserJet, HP PageWide Enterprise - Print with HP ePrint via email

Introduction

HP ePrint via email is a feature included in select HP printer models that allows you to print documents or photos by emailing them directly to the web-connected HP printer. No printer driver or app is necessary. Simply email the documents from the device (laptop, tablet, smart phone, or other email-capable device) to an email address assigned to the printer.
This document explains what is required and how to print with HP ePrint via email.
For information on other ways to print, go to Wireless printing from a laptop, phone, or tablet.

Requirements for printer and device

Review the following requirements for using HP ePrint via email:
  • The printer must have the HP ePrint via email feature. To check whether your printer model has this feature , go to Printers that can use mobile printing solutions.
  • The printer must be connected to a network with an active internet connection.
  • The mobile device or laptop must have email capability and internet access.
    note:
Although the printer must be connected to a network to set up or use HP ePrint via email, the laptop or mobile device does not need to be connected to the same network or to the printer in order to send print jobs.

    note:
Photos can be printed to a dedicated photo paper tray if available.

Print with HP ePrint via email from another type of device (not iOS)

Follow these steps to print from other types of devices, such as laptops and Android mobile devices.
  1. Make sure that the printer is enabled, turned on, connected to a local wireless network, and has access to the Internet.
  2. Make sure that the mobile device or laptop is connected to the internet.

Check the status of an ePrint job

You can use your HP Connected account to check your print jobs.
  1. Go to HP Connected and sign in to your account.
  2. Click the Printers tab, and then click ePrint Job History.

Tips for printing photos

  • Note that all photos emailed with HP ePrint will print at a default size of 4 x 6 inches (101.6 x 152.4 mm).
  • If the printer does not have a separate photo paper tray, make sure that photo paper is the only paper loaded in the tray when printing photos.
  • Make sure that digital images have a high enough resolution, or dpi (dots per inch). Image files (jpeg, bmp, tiff, etc.) need to be at least 100 dpi when printing with HP ePrint via email.
    note:
If you try to send a photo that is less than 100 dpi, it will not print. Instead, a “Failed” message will display in the job history at HP Connected. To print a photo or image that is less than 100 dpi, insert the image file into a Word document before emailing.
  • Make sure that image attachments are smaller than the 5 MB (megabyte) limit.
