HP Designjet Z6100 Printer Series - Firmware Version 9.0.0.4

This document explains the new features and fixes included with the new firmware version 9.0.0.4. The new firmware version is available for download at the HP Software and Drivers page. Additional firmware download instructions are provided below.
Main New features:
  • It is now possible to modify the amount of vacuum applied to custom types of media, this can be used to enhance the printer’s performance in tiling, folding and screen printing workflow .
  • For thin and thick types of media it is now possible to adjust the loading vacuum level.
  • Step by Step Guide to cleaning the encoder strip.
  • Security Features.
  • It is now possible to repeat the ink purge process if it has not been done successfully. The Printer will request that the customer checks if all the setup printheads have ink, if there is some without ink, the customer will be able to launch the purge procedure again.
Issues fixed:
  • The SE 08:11 troubleshooting method has been improved.
  • Preventive Maintenance Kit 2 Trigger extended from 120L to 180L if the SOL installed is Gen2 or above.
  • The Front Panel will now correctly display the amount of RAM memory installed.
  • Embedded Web Server will show the Ink Absorber information.
  • The performance of the printer when printing PDF files has been enhanced.
  • The instructions for performing the Paper Drive Test on the front panel have been improved. To ensure a successful test, the front panel will now request that a service engineer unrolls 1 m of media before performing the test.
How to Upgrade the Firmware:
  1. Go to the Embedded Web Server (type the IP address of the printer from any Web browser as Internet Explorer).
  2. Select the Setup tab.
  3. Select Firmware upgrade.
  4. Click on browse button to browse to the new firmware file (.fmw).
  5. Select the update button and follow the instructions.
