HP Tablets - Tablet Does Not Start (Android KitKat, Jelly Bean)

This document applies to HP and Compaq tablets with Android 4.4/KitKat and 4.2/Jelly Bean operating systems.
This document provides possible solutions to tablet startup issues. Follow the steps in this document step-by-step to help isolate the problem and find the most appropriate help.
note:
Depending on the version of Android installed on your tablet, some of the images in this document may not match your tablet exactly.

Step 1: Charge the HP tablet battery

Charge the battery using the AC adaptor and charging cable that came with your tablet. Allow the battery to charge for 30 minutes or more, and then attempt to turn on the tablet again.
note:
Using an incorrect AC adaptor can cause damage to the battery and user, as well as other issues.

Step 2: Find a fix that matches the symptom your HP tablet is experiencing

Read from the following list of symptoms. If you find a symptom that describes the condition of your tablet, then follow those instructions. If you cannot find a symptom that matches the condition of your tablet, then continue to Step 3: Perform a hard reboot on your HP tablet.

Step 3: Perform a hard reboot on your HP tablet

A hard reboot can resolve many startup issues. Press and hold the power button for more than eight seconds. After the tablet fully shuts down, wait a few seconds, and then press the power button to turn on the tablet.
If the tablet does not start, continue with the next step.

Step 4: Contact HP about your HP tablet

If the steps in this document have not resolved the startup problem, Contact HP to have your tablet serviced.
