HP Printers - Printing with Apple AirPrint (iOS)

This document is for HP AirPrint-compatible printers.
AirPrint is a mobile printing solution included with the Apple iOS v4.2 and later mobile operating systems.
Print from an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch over a wireless network to your HP printer. Most HP printers released in 2010 and later support AirPrint.
Step 1: Check the printing requirements
Make sure your printer and Apple iOS device meet the following requirements to print with AirPrint.
  • iOS 4.2 or later running on the Apple iOS device
  • An HP printer that supports AirPrint
HP wireless printers released in 2010 and later support AirPrint. For detailed information about which HP printers support AirPrint, go to Mobile Printing Solutions Compatible with HP Printers.
  • A connection to the printer
Your printer and the Apple iOS device must be on the same local network or your printer must support Wi-Fi Direct or HP wireless direct.
Try to print. If a No AirPrint printers found message displays, continue to the next step to connect the printer.
Step 2: Set up the wireless connection
Before you can print, both the Apple iOS device and printer must be connected, either through a wireless network or through Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct. If your printer is connected to your computer using a USB cable, then you must use Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct.
Step 3: Print from your Apple iOS device
Print from any app on your Apple iOS device that supports Apple AirPrint.

  3. Tap Print or the Print icon , depending on the type of file you want to print.

If a No Airprint Printers Found message displays, go to the What if a 'No AirPrint Printers Found' message displays on my Apple iOS device? FAQ for more information.
  5. Tap Options to change other settings if necessary. Some options, such as paper size, might not be adjustable and must be changed from the printer.
