HP LaserJet - Set up an older HP printer in mac OS X
For many older printers, the print drivers are only available from Apple Software Update.
Normally, drivers for a previously installed printer will be automatically downloaded and installed.
Follow these steps to update the driver for your printer in mac OS X.
Step one: Make sure the latest printer driver is installed
To upgrade the drivers for a previously installed printer, run Apple Software Update.
If the driver is not automatically installed by Apple Software Update, manually download the entire driver package from Apple Support.

For OS X 10.9 and newer: HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X (DL1888)

For OS X 10.7 and 10.8: HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X (DL907)

Step two: Add the HP printer to the Printers & Scanners list
Add the HP printer driver to the Printers & Scanners list using a USB, wired network, or wireless network connection.
