HP Color LaserJet Pro - Disable unused network protocols and features using the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Learn how to disable unused network protocols and features using the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).


This document provides instructions on how to access the EWS for HP Color LaserJet Pro printers. The steps to access the printer settings in the EWS will vary depending on the firmware installed on your printer.

Disable network settings

Follow these steps to disable the network settings in the EWS.

  1. Obtain the printer's IP address on the printer control panel.

    • Touchscreen control panel:

      From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon Wireless icon, or the Ethernet icon Ethernet icon, to view the printer's IP address or host name.

    • 2-line LCD control panel:

      1. On the printer control panel, press the OK button to display the Home screen.

      2. Use the arrow buttons and the OK button to navigate to and open the following menus:

        1. Setup

        2. Network Setup

        3. General Settings

      3. On the General Settings menu, select Show the IP Address, and then select Yes to display the printer's IP address or host name.

  2. Open the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS).

    1. On your computer, open a Web browser, and in the address bar, type the IP address or host name exactly as it displayed on the printer control panel.

    2. Press Enter on the computer keyboard.


      If the browser displays a message indicating that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing the website will not harm the computer.

      The EWS opens.

  3. Log in as an administrator.

  4. Select the Network tab.

  5. In the left pane, select Advanced Settings.

  6. Select the network protocols for any settings or features you wish to disable.


    To disable a setting, select to clear an option or check box.


    Make sure any enabled features that you want to disable are not required for solutions in the networking environment. Disabling these required features might cause disruptions to the network or features.

  7. Select Apply to save the settings.
