HP ENVY Inspire 7200e, 7900e Printers - Printer does not pick paper

Paper feed issues might result from using ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent paper. The quality of the paper can also make a difference. Use these guidelines to help avoid the issue.

1. Open the main tray, slide the paper-width guides outwards, and then remove the stack of paper from the main tray.

   

2. Remove any severely bent, wrinkled, or torn paper from the stack.

3. Check for and remove any obstructions inside the main tray. Even small pieces of paper can cause paper feed issues.

4. With both hands, hold the stack of paper, and then tap the bottom edge of the stack on a flat surface so that the stack is even on all sides.

5. Insert the stack of paper into the main tray, push the stack of paper, and then slide the paper-width guides inwards until they touch the edges of the paper.

   

6. Close the main tray.

   

7. Make sure the paper loaded matches the paper size and type settings in the printer software, HP Smart app, or printer control panel.

Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the paper feed rollers and cause paper jams and paper feed issues. Clean the rollers to help prevent future paper jams.

1. Turn off the printer.

2. Unplug the power cord and disconnect any other cable.

3. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled or filtered water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

4. Remove the input tray.

5. Pull out the main tray, and then gently tilt the printer from the front (about 60°) to access the printer base.

6. Press the cloth against the rollers, and then rotate them away from you with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove dust or dirt buildup.

7. Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

3. Wait 60 seconds.

4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

   Note:

   HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

5. Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

2. Remove or replace any severely bent, wrinkled, or torn pages.

3. With both hands, hold the stack of paper, and then tap the bottom edge of the stack on a flat surface so that the stack is even on all sides.

4. Insert the stack of paper into the document feeder, and then slide the paper guides inwards until they touch the edges of the paper.

   

Clean the paper feed and separator pad rollers in the document feeder.

1. Turn off the printer.

2. Unplug the power cord and disconnect any other cable.

3. Remove all originals from the document feeder tray.

4. Lift the document feeder cover.

   

5. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with distilled or filtered water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

6. Gently clean the separator pad and rollers with the damp cloth.

7. Allow the separator pad and rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).

8. Lower the document feeder cover until it snaps into place.

   

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
