HP printer setup (Mac PostScript and PCL drivers)

If your printer does not support Apple AirPrint, or a full-feature driver is unavailable, install a generic driver for basic printing functionality in macOS.

  1. Connect the printer to the Mac with a USB cable or to the same local network the Mac is connected to.

  2. Open System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

  3. Click the plus sign to view the list of available printers.

  4. In the Add Printer window, select your printer from the Default tab, or enter the printer IP address on the IP tab.

  5. From the Use menu, select Generic PostScript Printer, or if the postscript driver is not listed, select Generic PCL Printer.

  6. Add the printer to the print queue to complete the setup.

Additional print driver options might be available at HP Software and Driver Downloads.
