HP Notebook PCs - Finding your product name and number

Your product name and number can help you find appropriate service and support.

  • Product name (model number): Identify your notebook in a series your product belongs. For example, HP Spectre Folio - 13-ak0001na. You might need more specific information to find support for your product.

  • Product number (SKU, part number): Use this number to download the correct drivers or find support documents. For example, 5ES85EA or 5ES85EA#ABA.

  • Serial number: Identifies your specific HP product. You need this number to service the notebook, find warranty status, or work with HP Customer Support.

Find the PC product number with HP Support Assistant

Find your product name, number, and serial number with HP Support Assistant.

  1. In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant, or click the app icon in the taskbar.

    If the app is not installed on your computer, download the latest version from the HP Support Assistant website.

  2. On the My Dashboard tab, find your computer to review the product name, product number, and serial number.

Find the product number with the BIOS

Find your product name, number, and serial number using the computer BIOS.

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Press the Power button, and then immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until a startup menu displays.

  3. Press the F1 key or select System Information from the Startup Menu.

Find your product name, number, and serial number on the computer or on the box it shipped in.

  • On the bottom of the notebook

Find the product number with HP System Information

Find your product name, number, and serial number with the HP System Information app.

  1. Search the Microsoft Store and download HP System Information, if you do not already have it.

  2. On the notebook keyboard, press the Fn and Esc keys.

    Note:

    These keyboard presses do not work when using a docking station and external keyboard.

Find the Chromebook product number with the Chromebook Recovery Utility

Find your product name, number, and serial number with the Chromebook Recovery Utility.

  1. Download and install the free version of the Chromebook Recovery Utility from the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Click the Launcher icon , click All Apps, and then click Recovery.

  3. Click Get Started.

  4. On the Identify your Chromebook screen, type the code provided.
