A Printer Blocked or Printer Error message displays on an HP OfficeJet Pro 8100e, 9100e, or 9700e series printer when printing from an Android device or printing using the HP Smart app from an iOS or Mac device.

Update the printer firmware to clear the error

Update the printer firmware to resolve the issue.

  1. On the printer control panel Home screen, touch Menu.

  2. Touch Tools, and then Maintenance.

  3. Touch Firmware, and then Check.

  4. Touch Yes, and then Continue.

    The firmware update begins.
