HP JetAdvantage Private Print - End of Service FAQs

End Users, System Administrators, and HP Authorized Resellers

HP announces end-of-service of the free HP JetAdvantage Private Print application offered from the HP JetAdvantage On Demand Management Console and Portal.

Why did HP decide to retire the Private Print cloud solution?

As HP continues to refocus on developing products and solutions that provide our customers with the most value, we are now announcing the end-of-service for HP JetAdvantage Private Print effective November 15, 2018.
HP is committed to delivering exceptional hardware, software, and services to our customers. It is in our nature to innovate and try new things, and it was in this spirit that we developed and launched Private Print four years ago. Private Print was our initial cloud solution available from the HP JetAdvantage On Demand platform. Over the past few years, our HP JetAdvantage On Demand management console and platform has become a key remote solutions management capability for many customers and HP authorized resellers around the globe. We remain deeply committed to our cloud solutions vision and embrace today’s trends of the changing office, work style, and workplace landscape. To that end, the role of Private Print in our overall solutions portfolio has been very informative in the evolution of our strategy.
We thank our users and want to help them make a smooth transition to other HP secure pull print offerings that can solve their specific needs:
  • Please contact your HP authorized Reseller for details on secure pull printing solutions that will meet your needs.
  • Universal Print Driver (UPD) (FREE)

When will this take effect?

All documents in your Private Print cloud queue will be deleted on November 15, 2018 and the Private Print service will stop effective November 15, 2018.

Can the users of Private Print continue to use the software and also download it again?

Unfortunately, no. However, we are pleased to recommend the following options to meet your secure pull print needs.

What kind of help and support resources can I rely on going forward?

HP will maintain customer support documentation online until November 15, 2018.

What happens to my existing Private Print documents? Will they disappear?

As with the Private Print solution itself, documents printed to your cloud queue will only be retained for the length of time either you or your company IT administrator has set. However, all documents will be deleted on November 15, 2018 and the service will be offline completely on November 15, 2018.

I use Private Print frequently — What does the decommissioning of Private Print mean to me?

If you are using Private Print, we apologize for any inconvenience this might cause in your printing and scanning workflows. We thank you for your use of the Private Print service. Please feel free to evaluate any of the following alternative solutions available from HP and other, 3rd party software companies:

What will happen when I try to use Private Print at my HP Enterprise printer?

As today, you will still be able to login to your JetAdvantage account on your MFP control panel; however, on November 15, 2018, you will receive a message that states, "No apps available for your account" after login.

What about the Private Print iOS and Android mobile “On Demand” apps?

Both the HP JetAdvantage On Demand iOS and Android mobile submission applications will no longer be supported beyond November 15, 2018 and will be taken down from the Apple Store and Google Play Store accordingly. Feel free to delete your mobile app when you deem it appropriate.

What functionality of the printer will I lose and how will printing functionality be impacted?

After Private Print’s end-of-service on November 15, 2018, you will retain complete printer or MFP functionality and this application’s retirement will have no effect on your printer’s functionality.

Who do I contact for support after November 15, 2018?
