How to configure web proxy settings

Why do I need to do this?
If your network is protected by a firewall, it is very likely that all web/browser connections need to be routed through a web proxy.

What are the settings and what values should I use?

To configure web proxy settings, you will need to gather the following information:
  • The web proxy server hostname or IP address
  • The web proxy port (8080 is a commonly used value)
  • Proxy Server User Name (rarely required)
  • Proxy Server Password (rarely required)
Use the same values you use on your desktop browser. For example, Windows PC browser settings might look like this:
note:
If you don’t know or can’t find the values to set, please contact your network administrator or IT department.

How do I set the web proxy settings on my device?

Web proxy settings can be set using the device’s EWS (Exchange Web Services). To do this, complete the following steps:
  1. Using a web browser, enter the device’s hostname or IP address in the address bar. This opens the Device Status page for the printer. Click Sign In.
    note:
If the EWS administrator password is set, sign in as the administrator.
  2. Navigate to the HP Web Services tab. Enter Web Proxy Setup information:
    1. For Proxy Server, select web-proxy.
    2. For Proxy Server Port, 8080 is a commonly used value.
    3. User Name, Password, and Exceptions List are rarely required.
    4. Tap Apply.
