HP PCs, Tablets - Creating a Password Reset Disk (Windows)

This document is for HP computers and tablets that are protected with a Windows local user account password.
If you use a local account password to sign in to Windows, create a password reset disk so you can reset the password if you forget it and cannot sign in. Create the password reset disk before you forget your password, while you have access to Windows.
  note:
If you use a Microsoft account password to sign in to Windows, you can reset your password using any device that has active Internet access. You do not need a password reset disk.
If you have forgotten your password and cannot sign in, go to Unable to Log in to Windows.

Make sure to store the flash drive in a safe place and remember its location.

You do not need to create a new password reset disk if you change your password. The reset disk continues to work even if you change the password multiple times. If you create another password reset disk, the original reset disk no longer works.
