DESCRIPTION
The SSD (Solid State Drive) is not recognized and the following error is displayed:
Boot Device Not Found
Please install an operating system on your computer
Hard Disk - (3f0)
This issue occurs when the computer is shut down incorrectly, or after a sudden power loss. On the next reboot the boot data cannot be found then the drive does not boot.

SCOPE
The information in this document applies to the following:
Computers:
  • HP Elite x2 1012 G1
RESOLUTION
Perform the following steps to troubleshoot the HDD. If the HDD is not detected, contact HP to request an HDD replacement.
Step 1: Run the hard disk drive test in the BIOS. If the HDD is detected, reinstall the OS and download and install the Micron SSD Firmware.
  1. Power on the computer.
  2. Press F2 and run the HDD DST check to determine if the HDD can be detected, or press F10 to display the HDD information on the System Information page.
Step 2: After the OS has been reinstalled, download and install the following SoftPaq to update the Micron SSD Firmware:
