HP PCs - McAfee LiveSafe Internet Security App Is Removed After Upgrading to Windows 10

The McAfee LiveSafe Internet Security app is removed after upgrading to Windows 10. This issue occurs although the recovery option is selected to keep files, settings and applications. When the upgrade is finshed, McAfee LiveSafe is uninstalled.
To resolve this issue, follow the steps below to download an install McAfee Internet Security.
For McAfee LiveSafe accounts that have been activated:
  1. Click on the following link to navigate to the McAfee Internet Security download site:
  2. Select the region and language of the product.
  3. Enter the 25 digit code in the Enter your card's registration number field.
  4. .
  5. Click Submit and sign into your McAfee MyAccount.
  6. Click the plus sign (+) to add a device.
  7. Select your device and click the Download link.
  8. Select Yes on the EULA (End User License Agreement).
  9. Click Download to start the download and install procedure.
  10. Follow the on screen prompts to install the software.
For McAfee LiveSafe accounts that have not been activated: Follow the procedure to go back to a previous version of Windows:
  1. In Windows, search for go back, and then click Go back to an earlier build.
  2. The Recovery window opens in Settings. In the Go back to an earlier build section, click Get started.
  3. On the Why are you going back? screen, select an answer, type more details into the Tell us more field (optional), and then click Next.
  4. Read the What you need to know screen, and then click Next.
  5. Windows reminds you that you will need your old password on the Don't get locked out screen (if applicable). Click Next.
  6. Click Go back to an earlier build.
  7. Wait while your system is restored to the previous version of Windows. Do not turn off or unplug the computer.
  8. When Go Back is complete, log in with the user account and password from your previous version of Windows.
  9. Activate the McAfee LiveSafe trial version.
  10. Perform the upgrade to Windows 10 again.
NOTE: The Go Back option is available for only 28 days. Microsoft has released the following support document: Recovery options in Windows 10. Read the section called "Go back to your previous version of Windows" for more information.
If The Go Back Option is not available:Check to see if you can restore your PC to factory settings. This will reinstall the version of Windows that came with your PC and remove personal files, apps and drivers you installed, and any changes you made to settings.
Back up your data before restoring the computer to factory settings.
  1. Go to PC Settings.
  2. Select Update & Security.
  3. Select Recovery, then click Reset this PC, and then click Get started.
  4. Select Restore factory settings.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore factory settings.
  6. Activate the McAfee LiveSafe trial version.
  7. Perform the upgrade to Windows 10 again.
