Introduction

This document contains information about mobile printing solutions that can be used to print wirelessly (from a laptop or notebook) to an HP LaserJet, HP OfficeJet Enterprise, or HP PageWide Enterprise printer that supports mobile printing.

HP offers several mobile printing solutions to choose from depending on the laptop or notebook being used (such as macOS, Windows, or Chrome) and the printing environment (i.e. home, small or medium business, and enterprise business).

The solutions provided in this document might also be compatible with other printers such as Deskjet, Inkjet, Officejet, or Photosmart for which additional mobile apps or printing solutions might also be available. macOS-compatible mobile print solutions can be used on Mac laptops or notebooks (running OS X 10.8 or newer) to print to any HP printer that supports mobile printing solutions.

AirPrint	Use AirPrint to automatically find an HP printer in Wi-Fi range and print directly to an AirPrint-enabled HP printer from a mobile Mac laptop or notebook running OS X 10.8 or newer. note: The printer must be connected to a local wired or wireless network. AirPrint is built-in to Mac and iOS operating systems. For information on how to set up AirPrint on an HP Enterprise printer, see HP LaserJet Enterprise, HP OfficeJet Enterprise, HP PageWide Enterprise - Set up, install, and configure AirPrint. For information on how to set up an HP LaserJet Pro printer for wireless printing, see HP LaserJet Pro - Use an iOS mobile device to set up a wireless-capable printer on a wireless network.
HP ePrint Software	Use HP ePrint Software to print any file type or size wirelessly to multiple printers using a single print driver in macOS (OS X 10.8 or newer). This software can be used to print to any HP Public Print Location (PPL)^{3, 4}, and also works with an HP Wireless Direct⁵ connection. Free download available from hp.com. For more information, refer to the HP ePrint Software User Guide (for Mac).
HP ePrint via email	Use HP ePrint via email² to print worldwide by sending an email with a file attachment (10MB or less), from any location, to the printer's email address. To assign an email address to the printer, register for a free account at HP Smart. This service can be used with multiple web-connected printers on different networks. No app or download necessary.¹

Windows-compatible mobile print solutions
Mobile print solution	Description
Google Cloud Print	Use Google Cloud Print to save files to Google Cloud or to print from a Google/Gmail account to multiple HP printers that are HP ePrint-capable (cloud/internet ready), or HP classic printers (not ePrint-capable) without the need for printer-specific drivers. To print to a "cloud-ready" printer, you must first register for a free account at HP Smart and an email address will be assigned to the printer. To print to an "HP classic" printer, you must use the Google Chrome web browser. For information on setting up Google Cloud Print, see How to set up a printer for cloud-printing.
HP ePrint Software	Use HP ePrint Software to print any file type or size wirelessly to multiple printers using a single print driver in Windows 10, 8.1, or 8. This software can be used to print to any HP Public Print Location (PPL)^{3, 4}, and also works with the HP ePrint Enterprise App for secure printing. Free download available from hp.com. For Windows 10, 8.1, or 8, other driver options such as the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD), Basic/PCL6, and Plug and Play solutions, can be used as mobile alternatives (for select printers). Where available, these can be downloaded from support.hp.com/drivers. The Windows Update or in-OS driver can also be used in Windows 10, 8.1, or 8 as mobile alternatives for select printers.

HP ePrint Enterprise

HP ePrint Enterprise is a private, cloud/internet-based solution that uses administrative software hosted on a server to discover devices and print securely inside an Enterprise firewall (and to thousands of HP ePrint Public Print Locations^{3, 4}) to supported HP printers, using either HP ePrint via email or HP ePrint Software for Windows or Mac.
