HP Designjet Printers - Installing an HP Designjet printer driver in Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) environments

This document covers the recommended steps to be followed when installing an HP Designjet printer driver in a supported Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) environment.
When installing product-specific drivers, HP recommends using the latest version of the driver, which can be found at www.hp.com. The driver must be installed on every physical node in the cluster before it is installed on the Virtual Print Server.
  1. HP recommends applying any published Microsoft hotfixes related to printing stability, performance and Failover Print Clusters.
  2. Install the HP Designjet driver LOCALLY on ALL the Cluster Server Nodes.
    1. Use the Windows wizard and select the driver .inf file.
    2. DO NOT use the "HP standard TCP/IP Port"; instead use the "Standard TCP/IP Port".
  3. Install the driver onto the desired Virtual Print Server using Microsoft’s "Failover Cluster Manager". The sub-steps involved in this procedure are as follows:
    1. Select the Cluster
    2. Click on "Manage Printers"
    3. Print Servers will be listed. Expand and select "Printers"
    4. Right-click the middle pane, select "Add Printer…" from the pop-up
    5. Follow the instructions in the wizard to install the printer.
