A potential vulnerability has been identified with certain HP ElitePad tablet PCs. The secure boot feature of the BIOS may not be enabled, allowing alternate operating systems to be booted in contradiction with the BIOS configuration. Secure Boot is a feature that, when enabled, prevents the system firmware from booting to unauthorized boot loaders, option ROMs and operating systems that can run in the pre-boot environment.

To resolve this vulnerability, HP has provided a BIOS firmware update. To obtain the updated firmware, go to the
HP Software and Drivers page for your product and find the firmware update from the list of available software.
HP recommends that BIOS version vF.01 or later be installed on all HP ElitePad 900 systems and that Secure Boot be enabled.
After the BIOS is updated, additional secure boot configuration steps are needed.
- Go to Control Panel.
- Select HP BIOS Settings.
- Select "Secure Boot" to enable this feature.
