Introduction

This document describes how to set the printer settings for manual or duplex printer through the printer properties or application settings.

How to check if your product supports duplex printing

  1. Click the Start menu, select the Device and Printers folder, right click on the printer, and then select Printer properties from the drop down menu.

  2. Click the Device Settings tab, and then select Duplex Unit (for 2 –Sided Printing) under the Installable Options.
    Duplex unit installable options are the following:
    • Duplex Unit (for 2 –Sided Printing): Installed - The printer has duplex installed.
    • Duplex Unit (for 2 –Sided Printing): Not Installed - The duplex option has to be set/the printer does not support this functionality.

How to set manual/duplex settings through printer properties

  1. Click the Start menu, select the Device and Printers folder, right click on the printer, and then select Printer preferences from the drop down menu.

  2. Select the Finishing tab, Document Options.
    • On selecting Print on both sides check box, auto duplex gets enabled.
    • On deselecting Print on both sides check box, manual duplex gets enabled.
    note:
    Documents Options may appear grayed out indicating the duplex is not installed or the printer does not support this functionality.

How to set manual/duplex setting through application

  1. Open the application, go to File, Print, Printer Properties.

  2. Select the Finishing tab, Document Options.

    • On selecting Print on both sides check box, auto duplex gets enabled.
    • On deselecting Print on both sides check box, manual duplex gets enabled.
note:
Documents Options may appear grayed out indicating the duplex is not installed (see above for install instructions) or the printer does not support this functionality.
