This document applies to HP Pavilion dv6-7x00 series and HP ENVY dv6-7x00 series notebook computers.

warning:The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer.
caution:This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.
warning:Make sure the computer is disconnected from power before starting.
Step 1
Remove the battery.

Step 2
Loosen the captive Phillips head screw that secures the service door to the base enclosure.
Save the screw for service door replacement.

Step 3
Slide the battery release to release the service door.

Lift and remove the service door.

Step 1
Align the service door in place.

Step 2
While pressing down, slide the service door towards the rear of the computer until it is properly seated and the battery release latch clicks.

Step 3
Tighten the screw to hold the service door in place.

Step 4
Replace the battery.
