HP LaserJet Enterprise and Pro - Print from an iOS device using 'HP ePrint via email'

Introduction
HP ePrint via email allows you to print documents or photos over an Internet (cloud) connection by sending an email, from any location, to the printer's e-mail address - no printer driver or app necessary. It's recommended for printing at home or at the office from any laptop, tablet, or smart phone that has email capability to any ePrint-capable and -enabled HP LaserJet printer that is connected to a network with Internet access.
This document provides information on how to print to an HP ePrint-enabled printer from an iPad or iPhone running iOS 4.2 or later.
  note:
For more information about other devices or more mobile printing solutions, go to HP ePrint and mobile printing solutions (c03793609) (in English).
What is HP ePrint via email?
HP ePrint via email is a feature included in the firmware of select HP LaserJet models. To use HP ePrint via email, a free, one-time account registration or ePrint service activation with HP Connected (formerly HP ePrint Center) is required to assign the printer an email address. For information on how to enable an HP ePrint-capable printer, how to register and setup HP ePrint, or how to customize an HP ePrint email address and HP ePrint settings, go to Set up HP ePrint via email (c02981597) (in English).
  note:
The printer might require a firmware update to enable capability to print via the Internet directly from Windows or Macintosh applications.
Print from an iOS device using HP ePrint via email
Follow these steps to print from an iPad or iPhone to any HP ePrint-enabled printer:
  1. Make sure the iOS device is running iOS 4.2 or later.
  2. Make sure that the HP ePrint-capable printer is enabled, turned on, is connected to a local wireless network, and has access to the Internet.
      note:
If you are not sure if the HP printer is ePrint-capable, go to Set up HP ePrint (c02981597) (in English).
  3. Find and open the document or photo that you want to print.
  4. Touch the Action icon () to display the menu options.
  5. Touch Email photo or Email document to open the photo or document in an email.
  6. Type or select the printer's assigned email address in the To: field.
      note:
The HP ePrint server does not accept email print jobs if there are multiple email addresses.
  7. Send the email and wait for the file to print to the main tray (the main tray is the default).
      note:
Photos can be printed to a dedicated photo paper tray if available.
Tips for printing photos
  • All photos emailed with HP ePrint will print at a default size of 4 x 6 inches (101.6 x 152.4 mm).
  • If the HP ePrint-enabled printer does not have a separate photo paper tray, make sure that photo paper is the only paper loaded in the tray when printing photos.
  • Make sure that digital images have a high enough resolution, or dpi (dots per inch). Image files (like jpeg, bmp, tiff, etc.) need to be at least 100 dpi in order to print via HP ePrint.
  • Make sure that image attachments are smaller than the 5 MB (megabyte) limit.
  • Make sure the photo is higher than 100 dpi.
      note:
If you try to send a photo that is less than 100 dpi, it will not print. Instead, a “Failed” message will display in the job history at HP Connected. To print a photo or image that is less than 100 dpi, insert the image file into a Word document before emailing.
For more helpful tips, forum information, or information on how to monitor HP ePrint jobs, go to the HP ePrintCenter.
