HP Designjet 30/70/90/110/120 and 130 Printer Series - Roll Icon Does Not Show Up in the Front Panel Display for Roll Printing

Issue

This document describes how to get the roll icon to display, if it does not show up in the front panel display for roll printing.

This document applies to printers that have a roll feed assembly installed in them (either pre-installed or purchased separately and installed).

Solution

Ensure that the roll media is loaded in the correct slot.

The rear bottom feed slot is for the roll feed (indicated as 2 in the figure). The rear top feed slot is for the sheet feed (indicated as 1 in the figure).

note:
If the roll media is loaded into the top feed slot by mistake, the roll icon may not appear in the front panel.
Check the connections.
1. Ensure that the power cable is connected to the roll feed bracket (not to the printer directly).
2. Also check the power cable that connects the roll feed bracket and the printer's power port.
Check for LED status on roll bracket.
Check if parallel port cable coming from roll bracket is connected to printer.
