HP Compaq dx2400 Microtower PC - Removing and Replacing Power Supply

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the Power supply for the HP Compaq dx2400 Microtower PC.
Minimum skill level
The End-User must possess extensive product-specific knowledge and technical skill on how to service the system, and be familiar with the operating system.
Tools required
  • T-15 Torx screwdriver

Part numbers are subject to change.
The replacement part number will vary depending on the Power supply that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

  note:

If the unit contains a part that is labeled with the Modified Spare number, the Modified Spare must be ordered as the replacement part. If the unit contains a part that is labeled with the Original Spare number, please order the Original Spare as the replacement part. In this case either the Original Spare or the Modified Spare may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.

Power supply removal
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to the product or loss of data.
  2. Disconnect the power cables from all of the drives and the system board, noting their location for reinstallation.
  3. Remove the four Torx-15 screws that secure the power supply to the back of the chassis.
  4. Press the release latch on the chassis pan and slide the power supply away from the back of the chassis.
  5. Lift the power supply out of the chassis.
Power supply replacement
  1. Align the power supply with the guides in the chassis.
  2. Slide the power supply to the back of the chassis.
  3. Replace the four Torx-15 screws that secure the power supply to the back of the chassis.
  4. Connect the power cables to the drives and system board.
