Use the instructions that came with your operating system to grant folder access permissions to appropriate users on the network. You can include permissions for writing and changing folder contents as needed for each individual.

1. Make sure the product is connected to the network.
2. Find the IP address of the product. Use the product control panel to print the Network Configuration Page, which documents the IP address.
   1. Press the Setup button.
   2. Press the arrow buttons ( or ) to select Network, and then press OK.
   3. Press the arrow buttons ( or ) to select Print Network Configuration Page, and then press OK. The Network Configuration Page prints.
   4. Find the IP address that is printed on the Network Configuration Page.
3. Open a web browser window, and then type the IP address into the address bar at the top of the page. First type http:// followed by the IP address for the product. For example, if the IP address is 192.168.0.4, in the web browser, type the address in the following format: http://192.168.0.4. The Embedded Web Server appears.

     note:

   If you are using a proxy server in your browser, you might need to disable it to access the Embedded Web Server.

4. In the Embedded Web Server, click the Settings tab.
5. Under Address Book, click Direct Digital Filing Speed-dial.
6. Enter the information for the speed-dial entry. You also have the option to change scan settings.

     note:

   If needed, set a personal identification number (PIN) to authorize access to a network folder. After the PIN is established, a prompt for the PIN number appears on the product control panel display whenever a user tries to access the speed-dial. Only those users who know the PIN number for a file will be granted access to the network folder. If you do not want to restrict access when setting up the network folder, leave the PIN field blank.

7. Click Add. The entry is added to the Direct Digital Filing Speed-dial Address Book.

1. Load the document on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (ADF).
2. Press Digital Filing.
3. Select a destination from the display by pressing one of the speed-dial entries or one of the five speed-dial buttons.

     note:

   If a PIN has been set up for the speed-dial entry, enter your PIN before continuing.

4. Press Start Scan.

     note:

   This process may take some time depending on network traffic and connection speed.
