HP Compaq dc7700 Small Form Factor PC - Removing and Replacing the PCI riser card

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the PCI riser card for the HP Compaq dc7700 Small Form Factor PC.
Minimum skill level
The End-User should possess product-specific knowledge and technical skill on how to service the system, and have familiarity with the operating system.
Tools required
Torx #15 (T-15) screwdriver.
Parts required

Part numbers are subject to change.
The replacement part number will vary depending on the PCI riser card that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

In this case either the Original Spare or the Modified Spare may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:

    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Remove the two Torx-15 screws that secure the riser card to the PCI card cage.
  3. Remove the card from the cage.
PCI riser card replacement
  1. Align the riser card with the screw holes on the card cage.
  2. Replace the two screws that secure the riser card to the PCI riser cage.
