HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5100, h5400 and h5500 - Troubleshooting Wireless LAN

Wireless LAN (WLAN) troubleshooting tips
Before troubleshooting specific problems, make sure the device has been properly configured for WLAN connection and use.
Problem
Tip
Cannot connect to an access point.
  • Make sure the WLAN is on.
  • Make sure the HP iPAQ Pocket PC identified the network.
  • Make sure the necessary authentication keys have been provided.
  • Make sure the HP iPAQ Pocket PC is within range of the access point.
HP iPAQ Pocket PC is connected to an access point, but cannot browse the Internet.
If the HP Pocket PC is connected to a Work network, the network may require a proxy. Follow these steps to set up the proxy:
  1. Ask the network administrator for the proxy settings.
  2. Tap the Connections icon, and Add Proxy Server.
Wireless network is not appearing on the HP iPAQ Pocket PC.
The wireless network may be a non-broadcasting network.
  1. Tap the Connections icon, then Settings.
  2. Tap the Advanced tab, Network Cards, and Add New Settings
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Cannot turn the Wireless LAN on.
  • Make sure the battery has enough charge (the HP iPAQ Pocket PC will not turn on the WLAN in order to conserve power if the battery charge is low).
  • Reset the device by using the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the unit.
