HP Designjet 5000 and 5500 Series Printers - Switch Power Off, Check Printhead Cleaner Path Message

Issue:

The message Switch Power Off, Check Printhead Cleaner Path is displayed on the printer's front panel display, indicating the printhead cleaner tray is unable to move to the furthest rearward position when homing the service station assembly. Causes include a bad cable connection, a defective motor, or obstacles inside the service station.
Solution
note:
If the printer is new, ensure the service station cable (which is the grey flat cable with the grey connector) is plugged into the Main PCA. Also, make sure that the clips of the connector are closed completely, and that the service station cable is not damaged.
  1. Turn the printer off using the main power switch located on the back of the printer.
  2. Open the door on the far right side, and pull the printhead cleaner tray to its forward-most position, checking for smooth and free movement.
  3. Remove all six printhead cleaners.
  4. Look for, and remove any debris that may be impeding the printhead cleaner tray movement, in both forward and backward directions.
  5. Turn the printer on without the printhead cleaners installed.
  6. Re-insert the printhead cleaners when prompted to do so on the front panel.
  7. If the error message persists, contact HP support for further troubleshooting and diagnostics.
