HP Photosmart Printers - Cannot Access Card Reader

Issue
The printer is unable to access the card reader.
Solution
Use the following information to resolve issues associated with the inability to access the printer card reader.
Verifying card reader functionality
  1. Insert a memory card into the printer.
  2. Verify that the printer found the images on the card.
  3. Print an image or index page using the printer control panel.
  note:
If you are not able to verify the functionality of the card reader hardware, further troubleshooting is required.
Saving from the printer
  1. Save the images by using the SAVE button on the printer control panel or by accessing the Save option on the menu.
  2. Check the printer and the computer for error messages.
      note:
    If a dialog box appears on the computer screen, continue saving the images. The error is resolved if the images save successfully.
Ensuring that the monitor is running
If no dialog box appears on the computer screen or the printer indicates that an error has occurred, use the table below to verify that the card reader is functioning and follow the subsequent. If the driver version is not known, consult the sections below for the appropriate printer.

  note:
The HP Photosmart 7850 and 8050 series printers do not use the HHPMON0X.EXE program.
  1. Check to see which computers programs are running by following the steps below.
    1. Press Crtl, Alt, Delete simultaneously on the keyboard.
        note:
      For Windows 2000, XP and newer, click the Task Manager button then select the Processes tab.
    2. Check to see if the appropriate monitor is listed.
  2. If the monitor is not listed, activate it manually by following the steps below.
    1. Click Start.
    2. Click Run.
    3. Type the name of the appropriate monitor from the table above.
    4. Click OK.
  3. If an error message stating that the file could not be found appears, verify that the file was typed correctly. If the file was typed correctly, uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.
      note:
    For driver versions five and above, the entire printer software collection must be installed.
  4. Check to see if the monitor is active. Refer to step 1.
  5. If the monitor is active, save the images by using the SAVE button on the printer control panel.
Verifying the driver version for the HP Photosmart 145, 245, 325, 335, 375, 385, 7260, 7450, 7660, 7760, 7850, 7960, 8050, 8150, and 8450 Printers
Method one
The driver version is printed on the software CD below the list of supported operating systems.
Method two
  1. Right-click on the memory card icon located in the lower right-corner of the screen (just to the left of the digital clock).
  2. Click About.
  3. Look for the HP Photosmart Printer Series Software Version number.
Method Three
  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Programs.
  3. Click Hewlett-Packard.
  4. Click HP Photosmart printer group.
  5. Click Readme. The version number is located at the top of the form within the HP Photosmart printers Readme v line.
Verifying the driver version for the HP Photosmart 130, 230, 7150, 7350, and 7550 Printers
Method one
The drivers version is printer on the software CD below the list of supported operating systems.
Method two
  1. Right-click the memory card icon in the lower right corner of the computer screen.
  2. Click About or use the HP Diagnostics Tool.
Method three
  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Programs.
  3. Click Hewlett-Packard.
  4. Click HP Photosmart 130, 230, 7150, 7350, 7550.
  5. Click Printer Release Notes. The version number is located at the top of the form within the 'HP Photosmart printers Readme v' line.
Verifying the driver version for the HP Photosmart P1000, P1100, 1000, 1115, 1215, 1218, 1315, and 100 Printers
