HP Digital Sender - IIS Authentication

Introduction
The HP Digital Sender can be set up to require user authentication, this ensures that only authorized persons use the digital sending features of the digital sender.
Enabling user authentication requires a Windows® NT Domain running Microsoft IIS and a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server database (containing end user e-mail addresses). Microsoft Exchange can function as a LDAP Server.
Authentication theory of operation
  1. Digital Sender submits username and password to Web Server.
  2. Web server requests authentication from Network Logon server.
  3. Network Logon server replies with user verification to Web server.
  4. Web server replies with user verification to Digital Sender.
  5. Digital Sender queries ABM for SMTP address from matching user profile.
  6. SMTP address populated in FROM: field.
If no matching user profile is found
  7. Digital Sender queries LDAP Server for SMTP address for the username.
  8. LDAP server returns SMTP address to FROM: field.
