HP Digital Sender 9100c - Upgrading the Firmware on the HP Digital Sender

Issue:
How to upgrade the firmware on the HP Digital Sender 9100c.
Solution
Check the current version of the firmware on the HP Digital Sender 9100c by pressing the ALT + SHIFT + DUPLEX keys simultaneously. Look for the FW ver. line. Press EXIT to return the HP Digital Sender 9100c to the normal running state.
The HP Digital Sender 9100c firmware can be upgraded in different ways using HP Jetadmin or using Enterprise Center. HP Jetadmin has been obsolesced and will no longer available on the CD-ROM.
HP Web Jetadmin can be used to manage the Digital Sender. Click here to download HP Web Jetadmin.
  note:
Use Enterprise Center only to upgrade the HP Digital Sender 9100C if the firmware version is 1.3 or higher; this uses a .TGZ file extension.
  1. Download the Digital Sender firmware from hp.com. Click here to find Digital Sender drivers and downloads.
  2. Expand the firmware file into a specified directory.
  3. Make sure that no one is using the HP Digital Sender 9100c. The upgrade interrupts any job in process.
To upgrade the HP Digital Sender 9100c using HP Jetadmin
  1. Launch the HP Jetadmin (obsolete) software, right-click the Digital Sender, and choose Modify.
  2. In the Configuration window, choose Tools.
  3. Click Upgrade, then Firmware Upgrade. Use the Browse button to select the folder the file location to locate the .ver file, and then choose OK.
To upgrade the HP Digital Sender 9100c using Enterprise Center
  1. Launch Enterprise Center.
  2. Highlight the Digital Sender(s) that need to be upgraded.
  3. Choose Tools, Upgrade, browse to the file location to locate the .tgz file, and choose OK.
To upgrade the HP Digital Sender 9100c using Command Prompt
  1. Install the digital sender 9100c software.
  2. Make sure the Enterprise Center software is one that is installed.
  3. Open a Command prompt window and go to the directory of the 9100c and then the utilities folder. For example: C:\HP DS9100C\utilities
  4. In this folder there is an upgrade command. For help, you can type: upgrade /?
  5. The correct syntax for the upgrade command is: Upgrade /d:<name or IP of the digital sender> /f:<path were the .tgz file is at>
  6. If the user has an administrator password then this is the correct syntax: Upgrade /d:<name or IP of the digital sender> /p:<admin password> /f:<path were the .tgz file is at>
  7. When the firmware upgrade is complete, the HP Digital Sender 9100c will reboot.
