HP Digital Sender 9100c - Control Panel Error: 5.500001, 5.500002, or 5.500003

Issue:
When turning the HP Digital Sender 9100c on it displays the error, "Fatal Error: Internal Error (5.500001, 5.500002, or 5.500003) HP Digital Sender Halted." See the table below.
note:
If a time-out error (error 403 or error 109) is received while running the extended hardware diagnostic self-test, increase the time-out period for the LDAP searches through the HP Jetadmin software, the embedded Web server, or the control panel.

Hardware problems (electronics are faulty or cabling to main circuit board).
Run the hardware diagnostics extended self-tests on the HP Digital Sender 9100c:
  • Turn the Digital Sender off, then back on.
  • As the control panel displays the "blue curtains", press Shift+ALT+D and hold for five seconds.
  • Start the diagnostics by pressing the green Start button twice.
5.500002
Scanner lamp did not reach required intensity within given time.
Run the hardware diagnostics extended self-tests on the HP Digital Sender 9100c:
  • Turn the Digital Sender off, then back on.
  • As the control panel displays the "blue curtains", press Shift+ALT+D and hold for five seconds.
  • Start the diagnostics by pressing the green Start button twice.
5.500003
The scanner does not sense reference mark when starting a scan. The scanner mirrors cannot move because they are locked or motor is malfunctioning, or Charge Coupled Device is faulty. There are two possible causes. See below.
1) This error is often caused when the HP Digital Sender 9100c is locked.
  1. Unlock by turning the HP Digital Sender 9100c off.
  2. Lift the automatic document feeder (ADF) to reveal the flatbed scanning surface.
  3. Check the lock located at the top of the glass between the hinges.
  4. Turn the dial to the unlocked position.
  5. Turn the HP Digital Sender 9100c on.
note:
The Automatic Document Feeder may have to be physically removed in order to reach the dial to turn to the unlocked position.
2) The Charge Coupled Device (CCD) may be faulty.
Run the hardware diagnostics extended self-tests on the HP Digital Sender 9100c:
  1. Turn the Digital Sender off, then back on.
  2. As the control panel displays the "blue curtains", press Shift+ALT+D and hold for five seconds.
  3. Start the diagnostics by pressing the green Start button twice.
