HP Digital Sender 9100C - Creating and Maintaining User Profiles

This document contains information about user profiles that pertain to the administrator. See the Administrator Guide or the Address Book Manager (ABM) online help for details on other use.
User profiles
See the following list:
  • To use the Digital Sender if guest usage is disabled.
  • To create a private distribution list.
The administrator profile is built into the Digital Sender - the configurable parameter for it is the password. The password can be set using the control panel of the Digital Sender, Address Book Manager, or Jetadmin.
Who can create and maintain user profiles
Both users and the administrator have the ability to create a user profile. However, there are important differences in their capabilities:
  • Users can see and change only their own profiles. The administrator can see and change any user profile.
  • Users cannot validate their own profiles. If the administrator has set up security to require validation, only the administrator can do the validation.
How an administrator creates a user profile
Follow the steps below:
  1. Start the ABM.
  2. At the ABM logon screen, type the IP address or Digital Sender name and "Administrator" in the user name box (see Figure 1).

  3. In the ABM main window, choose Users.
  4. On the File menu, click New.
  5. Complete the information in the New User Profile dialog box.
    • Click DeliveryNotification if you want the user to receive e-mail notifications regarding e-mail transmissions. Note that this feature works only if your system supports DSN (Delivery Status Notification) and if you supply an e-mail address for the user in this profile.
    • Click Add e-mailaddress to Public Address Book to add the user to the Public e-mail address book.
    • Ensure that you select the Account Enabled check box (see Figure 2).

  6. When you are finished, click Add.
  7. If you want to add another user profile, repeat Steps 4 and 5.
  8. When you are finished, click Close.
