HP Network Scanjet 5 Scanner - Error 408 when Installing Daemon Service

Issue:
"Error 408" is displayed when trying to install the Daemon service in Windows NT or IBM LAN server and installation does not proceed.
Solution
Verify the following:
  1. Windows NT is installed on the server as a Domain model and not as a Workgroup server.
  2. Create a user for the daemon by selecting: Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, then User Manager for domains.
  3. Select User, then New User. Give the user a name that is 8 characters or less, put in a password, and confirm the password. Select Password never expires. Make the user account a member of Administrators, Domain Admins, and Domain Users groups.
  4. Log into the Windows NT domain with the new account created for the daemon.
  5. Verify that the scanner control panel has been configured. The control panel should read, Run Jetadmin to Complete Configuration.
  6. Ensure the Daemon Service is being installed on the PDC, BDC,or Server Console (not remote from workstation).
