HP OfficeJet/Color Copier/Fax/Family - Explanation of Service Agreements and Extended Warranties

HP has established service agreements as a way for customers to extend or upgrade their existing HP product support service or to obtain a support service contract on a product for which the initial warranty has expired.*

Service Agreements are available for the following HP products

HP OfficeJet/Color Copier/Fax/Family

The document provides details on the service options for available Service Agreements. The first attachment titled, "Hewlett-Packard Support Service Agreements," lists the types of service offerings that may be purchased. Depending upon manufacture date and other factors, not all services are available on all HP products. Service Agreements options range from unit repairs to unit replacement and from one-to-three years in length.

Service Agreements purchased for products currently under warranty serve as an extension of the support services offered under that warranty. Service Agreements purchased for out-of-warranty products can only be activated 30 days after payment is received.

HP Support Services description

22J. HP Customer Return Repair services

This service level provides maintenance at an HP Customer Service Center. Customer is responsible for shipping the product, freight prepaid with a written description of the failure symptoms, to HP Customer Service Center. HP will return the product within three (3) working days of receipt (shipping pre-paid), using surface transportation to locations within the U.S., except Hawaii and Alaska. Please note: Some products subject to exchange, rather than repair.

22E., 22L., 22K., and 22M HP Express Exchange service

22E. Premium service designed for customers whose original warranty has expired and who require maximum up time. HP will send a permanent replacement unit, freight prepaid, via premium airfreight carrier to the customer who calls the HP Customer Service Center between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific time. The replacement unit will be free of major cosmetic defects. Customer must return the defective unit to HP within three (3) working days of receipt of the replacement unit from HP. If the failed product is not received by HP within ten (10) days of Customer’s receipt of the replacement product, Customer will be billed the product’s list price less any applicable discounts. Service is limited to the continental U.S., including Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico.
22L. Premium service designed for customers whose products have a one (1) year warranty. This Service Agreement must be purchased while the product is within its original warranty period and enhances that warranty to cover an additional two (2) years at the Express Exchange service level. This period ends three (3) years from the original purchase date. (See 22E for definition of Express Exchange offering.)
22K. Premium service designed for customers whose products have a one (1) year warranty. This Service Agreement must be purchased while the product is within its original warranty period and enhances that warranty to cover an additional one (1) year at the Express Exchange service level. This period ends two (2) years from the original purchase date. (See 22E for definition of Express Exchange offering.)
22M. Premium service designed for customers whose products have a three (3) year warranty. This service would enhance the original warranty to the Express Exchange service level for the three (3) year duration. This period ends three (3) years from the original purchase date. (See 22E for definition of Express Exchange offering.)

22W. and 22F. HP Pick-up and return service

22W. Designed for a limited number of products with a one (1) year warranty. This service would enhance the original warranty to cover an additional two (2) years. The period ends three (3) years from the original purchase date. With this service level, HP will arrange to have your defective unit picked up and sent, freight prepaid, via premium air freight carrier, to an HP repair center. Your repaired unit will be returned to you via prepaid premium airfreight carrier within 6-7 working days. Please note: Some products subject to exchange, rather than repair.
22F. Designed for a limited number of products whose warranty has expired. This is a one-year contract. With this service level, HP will arrange to have your defective unit picked up and sent, freight prepaid, via premium air freight carrier, to an HP repair center. Your repaired unit will be returned to you via prepaid premium airfreight carrier within 6 to 7 working days.

Next business day service is only available to major metropolitan areas within the continental US. For the remainder of the Continental US (including Puerto Rico and parts of Alaska, but excluding Hawaii), these plans offer second business day delivery.
