What happens to the equipment after I send it in?

Functioning products meeting minimum criteria will be donated to charitable organizations that accept used equipment, otherwise they will enter into other reuse channels. The remaining equipment will be recycled through a unique process that doesn't produce any materials for landfills.

No. HP works with several non-profit organizations that accept used equipment, have acceptable environmental controls and practices in place, and are equipped to take large-scale donations of equipment in bulk.

Can I take a charitable deduction write-off from my taxes?

HP does not guarantee that any particular piece of equipment will be donated. To help minimize costs, donations to qualified charities are done in bulk; individual items of returned hardware are not tracked. Therefore no specific tax benefits will be available to HP or its customers. You may wish to consult with a tax advisor if you have additional questions.

When do I get my refund check?

This is not a program in which you would receive a refund check for your equipment.

What if I do not receive an email message or phone call confirming that my equipment is scheduled for pick up?

Within two business days of receiving your order HP will contact you by email (preferred) or phone confirming that your pick-up is scheduled. Even if HP cannot reach you due to a wrong email address or missed communication, your pick-up will still be scheduled. You must have your boxed equipment available to hand to the carrier personally or left at your doorstep. The carrier will make three attempts to pick up your equipment, so even if you do not hear from HP you should watch for a carrier note regarding a missed pick-up. If you still have questions about your recycling service order you can contact HP by emailing recycling_services-prs@hp.com or by calling 1-888-485-1849.
