The HP Remote Proofing in the Designjet 50ps configuration offers flexibility in the kind of PDF created in a remote proofing workflow. Rasterization is the process that converts an input file (PDF, PostScript or TIFF) into a raster PDF file, that is a PDF file that contains a raster image for each page in the proof (this is not available in the configuration of Remote Proofing for 10ps or 20ps printers). Here is a brief comparison between raster and object PDFs.
Object PDF
-
Ensures output consistency between 10ps, 20ps and 50ps in the majority of cases (CMYK path)
-
Minimizes the size of the RPF
-
RPF with an object PDF is approximately 5-30 MB per A3+/B+ (the size of a standard PDF)
-
RPF with a raster PDF is approximately 30 MB per A3+/B+
-
Raster PDF
-
Ensures output consistency in all situations (only available in Designjet 50ps) and is recommended in jobs that include:
-
Spot colors with gradations and overprints
-
Objects with RGB or LAB information
-
Separated PS
-
Non-embeddable fonts
