HP Designjet 10ps and 20ps Printers - Windows Office Driver Limitations

Issue:
A Windows Office driver (H01ENW98.EXE, H01ENWNT.EXE, H01ENW2K.EXE) may be downloaded off of the Web site, www.hp.com, for the HP Designjet 10ps/20ps printers. This driver may be used with Microsoft (R) Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and other office applications. This driver converts data to the PCL3GUI language. The HP Windows office driver has been developed to print from office applications rather than graphic applications.
The user will lose all “enhanced color features” provided by the software RIP when using the Windows driver including:
  • Color control sliders
  • Dry Time
  • PhotoRet
  • Resolution:
    • Plain paper Best (600 dpi)
    • Plain paper Normal/Fast (300 dpi)
    • Rest of Medias Best/Normal (600 dpi)
    • Rest of Medias Fast (300 dpi)
Solution
In order to obtain full color features, use the software RIP that comes with the printer.
Warning about AutoCad 2000
This driver is for an HP Designjet printer but not optimized for AutoCAD 2000. Each time you run AutoCAD 2000 you will receive a warning message. This message recommends the installation of an HP-GL/2 and RTL driver. The HP Designjet 10ps/20ps Windows Office driver is a PCL3GUI driver, not an HP-GL2 and RTL driver. Do not try to follow the instructions to get an optimized driver.
Installation process
Use the following steps to install the Windows Office driver for the HP Designjet 10ps/20ps:
  1. Click the DownloadNow.
  2. Save the program to disk.
  3. Run the program.
  4. Save all de-compressed files.
  5. From Settings/Printers add a new printer.
  6. Press the HaveDisk button from the AddPrinterWizard.
  7. Put the directory where you have copied the files.
  8. Select the printer.
