HP Designjet 10ps and 20ps Printers - Automatic Color Calibration in Windows NT 4.0
Issue:
When trying to run the Automatic Color Calibration from a Windows NT 4.0 operating system, the message The port does not support color calibration appears.
Solution
Follow the steps below to use the Automatic Color Calibration:
-
Set the parallel port to ECP mode in the BIOS (contact computer manufacturer or IT department to do this).
-
Verify that the latest firmware is loaded on the printer. Firmware can be downloaded from Hewlett-Packard’s Web site.
-
Open the Software RIP installed on the computer.
-
Click on Setup, Default Settings, and select the Communication tab.
-
In the Communication tab, set the transmission buffer to 8192, and verify no check marks are in either the “Check port state before sending” or “Use standard LPT driver” selections as shown in Figure 1.Figure : Default Setting window
-
Following appropriate changes, click Apply then OK.
Summary
Windows NT does not support bidirectional communication on a parallel connection; however, with the changes made above, the Automatic Color Calibration can be performed on the 10ps and 20ps when connected by a parallel cable in NT 4.0.
