HP Designjet Printers - Issues with Third-Party RIPs
Introduction
Amiable
Slow printing from Quark Xpress using HP Designjet 10/20PS
Selecting the correct printer description for your printer in QuarkXpress print window under the Setup tab may result in longer print times than selecting generic color. Selecting generic color may yield faster RIP times, but may reduce color accuracy of output.
Colorgate or Imation
ISSUE: The Colorgate or Imation RIP generates system errors when trying to print after upgrading to firmware version 2.10.
SOLUTION: Set DRY TIME to None.
MatchPrint Color RIP
ISSUE: How to get a print to file using MatchPrint Color RIP.
SOLUTION: In order to get a print to file using MatchPrint Color RIP, follow these steps:
-
Select HPDesignjet 5000 from the RIP Properties menu.
-
Open Queue properties, then select Never delete from the File tab.
-
Use Manual search to get a file into this queue.
-
RIP this file. From the queues log window, you can see which ID was assigned to this job.
-
Browse the RIPs home directory and search for a folder called Output.
-
Within this folder you will find a .BCO file (RTL file) that has the name and ID of the previously ripped job.
Onyx
ISSUE: "Error Processing Job Flushing rest of Job" after upgrading from A.02.10 to A.02.12. If left alone, the job will eventually print.
SOLUTION: Change the Drying time on the front panel back to Automatic from None The front panel setting had been set to None because of a conflict between Onyx and A.02.10.
Xinet, OPI Server
ISSUE: Unable to print from a Macintosh. System Error message, "Error Flushing Job," is displayed.
SOLUTION: To resolve this issue, change the Software Encoding on the front panel to Binary instead of ASCII or Software. The system error message, "Error Flushing Job," may still be received, but file will print. This issue is still under investigation by Hewlett-Packard. The above solution was reported by a customer. The settings of this Xinet server are unknown.
