HP Designjet 10ps, 20ps, 50ps, 30 and 30n Printers - Removing Media Jams

Introduction
The HP Designjet 10ps, 20ps, 50ps, 30 and 30n printers are specially designed for trouble-free use. Media is unlikely to become jammed inside the printer, but there are a few simple precautions to avoid this.
Avoiding media jams
  • Use HP supported media designed for the printer.
  • Make sure nothing is blocking the media paths.
  • Make sure the media is properly aligned in the trays.
  • Do not overload the trays. Tray 1 (the upper tray) holds up to 150 sheets of media; Tray 2 (the lower tray) holds up to 250 sheets.
  • Do not use media that is curled or crumpled.
  • Use the rear path trough for thick media, up to 0.52 mm.
Clearing a media jam
Try pressing the CONTINUE button (upper-right button) on the printer's front panel. If this does not solve the problem, try the following steps:
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove all media from the trays. Pull out any media that is visibly stuck.
  3. If the rear path through is installed, remove it by pressing the buttons on each side and pulling it out.

  4. If a duplexer is installed, remove it by pressing the buttons on each side and pulling it out.

  5. Removing the rear path through or the duplexer gives access to the inside of the printer from the rear. Pull out any media that may be stuck inside the duplexer or that is accessible from the rear.
  6. Replace the rear path through or the duplexer and make sure it fits securely.
  7. If you have the duplexer, remove the back panel by pressing the two catches inwards.
  8. Pull out any media that may be stuck inside.
  9. Replace the back panel on the duplexer and make sure it fits securely.
  10. If the printer still reports jammed media, lift the top cover and pull out any media that may be stuck.
  11. Be careful when lifting the cover not to damage or disturb any of the tubes or other internal parts of the printer.
  12. Turn on the printer and verify functionality.
