HP LaserJet and Color LaserJet Printers - Downloading a Font or Macro Using HP Web Jetadmin

Introduction
Fonts and macros can be downloaded to an HP printer that contains a mass storage device (hard drive, flash DIMM, or RAM disk), using HP Web Jetadmin with the Device Storage Manager plug-in installed.
Downloading and installing HP Web Jetadmin and the device storage manager plug-in update
  1. Install HP Web Jetadmin 7.0 or newer.
    1. Select the appropriate operating system.
    2. Click HP Web Jetadmin software.
    3. Click Download Now at bottom of page.
    4. Save to disk and run the setup for HP Web Jetadmin.
  2. Download the Device Storage Manager Plug-In update.

    2. Reference the on-line help (Updating the Web Jetadmin Software) available within Web Jet Admin for instructions on how to install a Plug-in.
        note:
      The most current version of Device Storage Manager (version 1.1 or higher) supports setting font or macro IDs.
To view the installed version of Device Storage Manager:
From the Web Jetadmin task bar pull-down menus, do the following:
  1. Select Help.
  2. Select HP Web Jetadmin.
  3. Select About.
  4. Click Go.
  5. Select Display next to Installed Packages.
Installing the file(s) on the mass storage device using HP Web Jetadmin
  1. Select DeviceGroups, NewGroup and click Go.
  2. Name the new group and click OK. (A printer has to be in a group to allow downloading.)
      note:
    If a list of the available printers on the network shows in the lower section, select the printer(s) you are working with and click Add. If no list shows, select Devices, All Devices and click Go. This will refresh and show all devices.
    Double click the desired printer. On the right, select the group (next to Add to) and click Add.
  3. Select DeviceGroups and Name of New Group in upper left.
  4. Click Go.
  5. Click DeviceStorageManager on the top menu bar (properties, devices, subgroups, etc.), which should be on the far right of the screen.
  6. Click UploadFiles and browse to the location of the macro, font, etc.
  7. Click AddFiles. (To view the file, click either the macro or font folder).
  8. Click StartDownload. (This will download the desired files to all printers within the group you have created.)
  9. Print out a file directory from the printer to verify the file is present on the mass storage device.
