About Energy Star
ENERGY STAR® is a voluntary program established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to encourage the development of energy-efficient office products. HP designs many products to reduce power consumption and save natural resources without compromising product performance. These products are designed to reduce total energy consumption both during operation and when the device is not active.
As an ENERGY STAR® partner, HP has determined that these products meet ENERGY STAR® guidelines for energy efficiency.
HP products that qualify for ENERGY STAR® are indicated with the following ENERGY STAR® logo, a U.S. registered service mark of the EPA:

HP Color LaserJet 8500 and 8550 series
The HP LaserJet 8500 and 8550 series printers have a power-saving design to conserve electricity by dropping energy usage from 470 watts (W) while printing to 45 W or less while in low-power (PowerSave) mode.
This product qualifies for the Energy Star Program in the U.S. and Japan.
