HP 9G Calculator - Using the Display

The screen on the HP 9G calculator has four display areas, using a split screen to allow viewing of graphs (shown in Figure 1) or equations (shown in Figure2).
The display screens
The two displays are shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.
Figure : Graph display
The graph display shows the graph, result line, and indicator symbols.
Figure : Calculation display
The calculation display shows the entry line, the result line, and indicator symbols.
Data shown on the screen
• Graph - Displays on the left of the graph display (see Figure 1).
• Result line - Displays the result of a calculation. Shown near the bottom right of either display (see Figures 1 and 2). Ten digits can be displayed, together with a decimal point, a negative sign, the x10 indicator, and a 2-digit positive or negative exponent. Results that exceed this limit are displayed in scientific notation.
• Entry line - Displays near the top left side of the calculation display (see Figure 2). Displays an entry of up to 76 digits. Entries with more than 11 digits will scroll to the left. When the 69th digit of a single entry is input, the cursor changes from the solid pointer [] to a broken pointer [] to let you know you are approaching the entry limit. If more than 76 digits are needed, divide the calculation into two or more parts.
• Indicators - Display in various places on both displays (see Figures 1 and 2). See the table below for a list of indicators.
