HP Jornada 520 or 540 Series PDA - Display Is Difficult to See in Sunlight or in Dark Rooms
This document explains why the HP Jornada 520 and 540 display is sometimes difficult to see in the sunlight or in dark rooms, and offers suggestions for resolving these issues.
Adjusting settings and viewing conditions
The display may be difficult to see because the display settings are not set for best viewing. Use the HP Settings to adjust contrast and brightness. In very bright light, select the Outdoor profile. In very dark conditions, select the Low Power profile. In a dark room, you may also need to ensure that the backlight is on and/or position a lamp so the light shines directly on the screen.
In addition, the display is designed to protect the information on the device. The display is only visible from straight on. Someone else sitting at an angle to the device is unable to read the display. While this provides privacy, in some light conditions it may make the screen more difficult to see. If this occurs, vary the amount of light on the screen until it is more visible.
