HP Jornada 430/430se Palm-size PCs - Converted Pictures in Grayscale

ISSUE: With ActiveSync 3.0, the conversion for any bitmap picture from a desktop computer to the default setting of the palm-size computer is set as *.bmp to *.2bp. This causes the converted bitmap to appear in grayscale.
SOLUTION: With ActiveSync 3.0, 2bp is the default setting. This causes a grayscale conversion when copying a bitmap file (.bmp) to a palm-size computer. To change the default setting, perform the following steps:
  1. From Tools, select Options.
  2. Click the Rules tab, then click Conversion Settings.
  3. Select the Desktop to Device tab, and highlight Bitmap Image. Under File Conversion Details, it will show that the *.bmp will be converted to *.2bp. Any color picture will be in black & white after the conversion by default.
  4. To change the default to *.bmp, click Edit, in the drop down list, select (no conversion) (*.bmp).
  5. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.
With Microsoft (R) Windows CE Services 2.2, the default setting for the bitmap file conversion is from *.bmp to *.bmp. Each time a new user profile is created, the user will have to edit the conversion of bitmap file from *.2bp to *.bmp in order to get the color converted file.
