Thank you for using HP Palmtop PCs. HP is providing this Windows CE 2.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) program to improve the performance and reliability of your HP Palmtop PCs.
Why install Windows CE 2.0 Service Pack 1?
Windows CE 2.0 Service Pack 1 will improve the overall performance and reliability of your HP Palmtop PCs. Installing SP1 will extend your H/PC's functionality and update your H/PC with some of the latest features available today. SP1 includes updates, drivers, and additional components which are provided in one convenient update for easy installation.
Issues which Windows CE 2.0 SP1 will Address
Copying large files or sets of files to Compact Flash, PCMCIA ATA Flash, or SRAM cards can result in the system freezing when suspended and reactivated . SP1 corrects this problem, enabling file copy operations during power cycling.
Copying/Pasting one folder into another where the folders names differ by ONLY the last character (for example: pasting a folder named "Doc" into a folder named "Doc1") has caused the device to crash, This operation now works correctly.
CHAP authentication now supports up to 256-character responses. This will permit HP Palmtop PCs to connect to more online service providers.
Continuous network use eventually degrades performance over time. SP1 addresses current known issues which result from long-term use with network connections.
Manually changing an event sound in the Sounds control panel caused other event sounds to be set incorrectly. SP1 enables you to individually set any event sound to the .WAV file of your choice without disrupting any other settings.
If you are using Microsoft Outlook v 8.03 or later, and synchronize your HP Palmtop PC with your PC, and the current time zone of your H/PC is set to a location in the southern hemisphere in time zones where daylight savings time is supported, appointments may appear at incorrect times. Appointments will now display at the correct time regardless of location or daylight savings time status in all regions of the world.
Installation Instructions
  1. Connect your HP Palmtop PC to your PC using the serial cable that comes with the HP Palmtop PC.
  2. Prior to installing SP1, you must ensure that Windows CE Services v 2.0 or later is installed on your PC. Consult your H/PC documentation for more information on installing Windows CE Services v 2.0 and connecting your H/PC to your PC.
  3. Use Windows CE Services to backup any data from the HP Palmtop PC to your PC.
  4. Double-click the SP1 file that you downloaded to your PC.
  5. Follow the instructions displayed by the PC installation program.
  6. Installation of SP1 will commence on your HP Palmtop PC.
  7. After the installation completes successfully, follow the manufacturer's instructions to reset the HP Palmtop PC, and then turn the power ON.
  8. Please be sure to reset the HP Palmtop PC; otherwise, SP1 will not take effect.
Use of Software
You must read and agree to the end user license terms that are displayed by the setup application prior to the actual installation of Service Pack 1.
This Service Pack 1 is provided only to HP Palmtop PC users.
If you have purchased several HP Palmtop PCs, you are entitled to install one copy of the Service Pack 1 onto each HP Palmtop PC that you own.
This Service Pack 1 can only be used for updating your HP Palmtop PC.
