HP Digital Home Networking - Setting Up the Computer for Internet Gaming by Disabling the Firewall

Introduction
This document explains how to allow one local user to be temporarily removed from behind the firewall for a special purpose such as Internet gaming or video conferencing. Some multi-player games will not work properly unless this is done.
  caution:
This feature disables any firewall protection for the local DMZ host.
Instructions
  1. Right-click the house icon in the systray (see Figure 1).

  2. Click Gateway Control Panel.
  3. The Gateway Control Panel Login window appears (see Figure 2).

  4. Enter the Gateway password in the Login Password field, then click OK. Unless you have changed it, the password is admin.
  5. The Gateway Control Panel screen will appear.
  6. Click the Expert Interface Tab (see Figure 3).

  7. Click Launch Expert Interface.
      note:
    Only advanced users should attempt to access the Expert Interface directly.
  8. The “Enter Network Password” dialog box appears.

  9. Leave the User Name field blank, and type the password into the password field. Unless you have changed it, the password is admin.
  10. Click OK.
  11. The Expert Interface launches.
  12. Click the DMZ tab to open the DMZ Host screen (see Figure 5).

  13. To activate the DMZ Host, enter the DMZ Host IP address, then click Apply to save changes.
  14. To deactivate the DMZ Host, enter a 0 (zero) in DMZ Host IP address, then click Apply to save changes.
