HP Business Inkjet 2600 Series Printers - Driver Uninstall

Uninstall the printer software using the uninstaller in Windows
Follow the steps below to uninstall the printer software:
  1. Restart the computer
  2. Select Programs, HP Business Inkjet printer 2600 series, HP Business Inkjet 2600 Series Uninstaller.
  3. Select the components that are to be uninstalled in the Components dialog box. Continue with the procedure to uninstall the printer software.
  4. Click Start, Programs,HP Business Inkjet 2600 and Uninstall.
  5. A screen will appear telling the user that the uninstaller is setting up.
  6. A screen appears telling the user to close all other applications.
  7. Press Next.

  note:
If the uninstaller was not included with the driver, run the installation disk and install a full copy of the driver with the uninstaller.
Run the scrubber utility located on the Starter CD
If an attempt to install the printer driver with a USB connection fails, run the scrubber program on the Starter CD.
  1. Insert the Starter CD into the CD drive on the computer.
  2. Right-click the Start button and then click Explore.
  3. Click the letter of the CD drive and then click UTILS, and then SCRUBBER.
  4. Select the operating system (either Windows 2000 or Windows 98) and then double-click the SCRUB9X.EXE or SCRUB2K.EXE program and follow the directions on the screen.
If the uninstaller fails, go to the section marked Manually uninstalling the printerdriver and follow the steps.
Manually uninstalling the printer driver
If an attempt to uninstall the HP Business Inkjet 2600 series driver by using the HP Business Inkjet 2600 Uninstaller fails, the printer driver should be manually uninstalled by following the instructions below.
  note:
You must be a network administrator or have administrator privileges before uninstalling the printer driver in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems.
  note:
If more than one copy of the HP Business Inkjet 2600 series driver is installed on the computer, all of the copies should be manually uninstalled.
Removing the shortcuts
  1. Restart Windows.
  2. In Windows 95 and 98, right-click Start and select Open. In Windows NT 4.0, right-click Start and select Open All Users.
  3. Double-click Programs.
  4. Right-click HP Business Inkjet 2600 Utilities and select Delete.
  5. In the Confirm Folder Delete window, confirm the removal by selecting Yes.
Removing the Taskbar icon
  1. In the Programs window (which is still open from Step 5 above), double-click the StartUp folder.
  2. If there is an HP Business Inkjet 2600 Taskbar icon shortcut in the StartUp folder, right-click the HP Business Inkjet 2600 Taskbar icon and select Delete.
  3. In the Confirm Folder Delete window, confirm the removal by selecting Yes.
  4. Close all open windows.
  5. If an Business Inkjet 2600 Taskbar Icon is in the lower-right corner of the desktop by the clock, right-click the HP Business Inkjet 2600 Taskbar icon and select Close.
Removing the printer driver
  1. Select Start, Settings, and Printers.
  2. In the Printers window, right-click the HP Business Inkjet 2600 printer and select Delete.
  3. When asked to confirm the deletion, select Yes.
  4. If asked to delete the files that are used only for this HP Business Inkjet 2600 series printer and are no longer needed, select Yes.
  5. If warned that the default printer has been deleted, select OK.
  6. If more than one copy of the printer driver is being removed, repeat Steps 2 through 5 for each copy of the printer driver.
  7. Close the Printers window.
Removing the printer driver files
  1. Select Start, Find, and Files or Folders.
  2. In the Named box, type HP26*.inf and select Find Now.
  3. When the search results appear at the bottom of the window, select Edit and Select All.
  4. Select File and Delete.
  5. In the Named box, type hpsf*.* and select Find Now.
  6. When the search results appear at the bottom of the window, select Edit and Select All.
  7. Select File and Delete.
  8. In the Named box, type HPBF*.* and select Find Now.
  9. When the search results appear at the bottom of the window, select Edit and Select All.
  10. Select File and Delete.
  11. When asked to confirm the deletion, select Yes.
  12. Select Yes to All to delete all of the printer driver program files.
  13. Close the Find window.
  14. Restart Windows.
      note:
    It is extremely important to restart Windows to successfully complete the uninstall process.
Removing the printer driver from the registry
  1. Select Start and Run.
  2. In the Open box, type REGEDIT and select OK.
  3. Select Registry, Export Registry File, type HP in the File name box and select Save. This will create a backup of the Windows Registry named HP.REG that can be used to restore the Registry.
  4. In the RegistryEditor, select Edit and Find.
  5. In the Find What? box, type 2600 and select Find Next.
  6. When an entry is found, ensure it relates to the HP Business Inkjet 2600 printer. If so, press DELETE on the keyboard, then select Yes to confirm the deletion. To continue searching for additional HP Business Inkjet 2600 entries, press the F3 key.
      note:
    Some applications may have registry entries that contain the value 2600, such as Microsoft (R) PowerPoint 2000. Before deleting the entry, make sure it references the printer driver. If you are not sure the entry is related to the HP Business Inkjet 2600 printer, do not delete the entry.
  7. Continue searching until a message indicates that the search of the registry is complete. Select OK.
  8. In the RegistryEditor, select Edit and Find.
  9. In the Find What? box, type in the serial number of the printer and select Find Next.
  10. When an entry is found, ensure it relates to the HP Business Inkjet 2600 printer. If so, press DELETE on the keyboard, then select Yes to confirm the deletion. To continue searching for additional 2600 entries, press the F3 key.
  11. Continue searching until a message indicates that the search of the registry is complete. Select OK.
  12. In the RegistryEditor, select Edit and Find.
  13. In the Find What? box, type VID_03F0&PID_0412 and select Find Next.
  14. When an entry is found, ensure it relates to the HP Business Inkjet 2600 printer. If so, press DELETE on the keyboard, then select Yes to confirm the deletion. To continue searching for additional HP Business Inkjet 2600, press the F3 key.
  15. Continue searching until a message indicates that the search of the registry is complete. Select OK.
  16. Exit the Registry Editor by selecting Registry and selecting Exit.
Uninstall the printer software in the Mac operating system
  1. Unplug the printer and restart the computer.
  2. Insert the starter CD into the computer CD-ROM drive. The HP Printer Software window is displayed. If the HP Printer Software window is not displayed, double-click the icon for HP Printer Software.
  3. Double-click the Installer icon.
  4. Select Uninstall from the drop-down menu in the upper left corner of the main installation dialog box.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the procedure for uninstalling the printer software.
