HP Business Inkjet 2200, 2250, and 2600 Series Printer - Installing Additional Memory

Issue:
How is additional memory installed in the printer?
Solution
Additional random access memory (RAM) is installed on the PostScript(R) / PCL 5C personality card and used only when printing with PostScript and PCL 5C printer languages. An optional 64 MB SDRAM memory module (part number 1818-8505) can be installed on the PostScript/PCL 5C personality card. An optional 128 MB SDRAM memory module (part number C2388A) can also be installed on the PostScript/PCL 5C personality card. Adding memory to the printer will allow the printer to process more complex PostScript and PCL 5C jobs, but it may not necessarily increase processing speed.
DETAILS: Follow the steps below to install additional memory:
  1. To avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, use an anti-static wrist strap clipped to a grounded metal piece.
  2. Turn off the printer and remove the interface cable.
  3. Loosen the two screws on the PostScript/PCL 5C personality card and remove it. See Figure 1 below.
Figure : Removing the personality card (22x0 shown here, 2600 similar)
  4. Insert the optional 64 MB or 128 MB SDRAM memory module into the socket on the personality card at an angle, as shown in Figure 2 below. The memory module is keyed to fit in the socket only one way. Push the module firmly into the socket so the gold contacts on the memory module are completely covered by the socket on the personality card.

  5. Push down on the edge of the memory module to make it lie flat on the personality card. As the module is pushed down, the semicircular cutouts on each end of the module should slide under the tabs on the socket of the personality card to lock the memory module into place. If the semicircular cutouts on the memory module do not align with the tabs on the socket, try pushing the memory module further into the socket. See Figure 3 below.

  6. Place the personality card back into the MIO slot on the printer and fasten the two screws. See Figure 4 below.

  7. Connect the interface cable and turn on the printer.
