HP 2200 and 2250 series printers - Display Panel Button Combinations

Introduction
The display panel buttons perform special functions when pressed in the hot button combinations described below.
Hot button combinations
Press the display panel buttons in the following combinations to produce the desired results.
The demo page is an internal test that is started with the printer turned on.
RESUME (Press + Hold) = demo page
The following hot button combinations are started with the printer turned off:
  • RESUME (Press + Hold) + POWER = printer reset (to factory settings)
  • RESUME + CANCEL (Press + Hold) + POWER = flash mode (to upgrade firmware)
  • VALUE (Press + Hold) + POWER = language preference (to choose preferred language)
  • ITEM + RESUME (Press + Hold) + POWER = EIO card reset (to factory settings for Jetdirect Card)
  • Firmware 5.8.0: MENU (Press + Hold) + POWER = service menu*
  • Firmware 5.9.4 or higher: MENU (Press + Hold) +VALUE (Press + Hold) + POWER = service menu*
*After the hot button combination is completed, the Service Menu can be accessed by repeatedly pressing MENU. When Service Menu is visible in the LCD, press ITEM to see the following options, use VALUE to change the values, and press RESUME to save the changes.
The Service Menu contains the following options:
  • Language - to choose preferred language
  • Cold Reset - resets the printer
  • Flash Unit - to upgrade firmware
  • Enable Slow Poll - time-out errors are suppressed (on by default)
  • Media Sensor - turns the media sensor on or off
  • Test LCD - tests the LCD and panel buttons
  • Serial Number - displays the serial number of the printer
  • EIO Slot ID - displays the ID of the EIO slot
  note:
Press + Hold means to press the button and hold it down until the button combination is completed. Power means turn on the printer by pressing and releasing POWER. For example, to reset the EIO card, turn off the printer, press and hold down ITEM and RESUME at the same time, then turn on the printer by pressing and releasing POWER.
Definition of display panel buttons and lights

  1. MENU - navigates the menus.
  2. ITEM - cycles through selected menu items.
  3. VALUE - adjusts value of menu items.
  4. LCD Panel - displays status messages and the remaining ink levels in the ink cartridges.
  5. RESUME - confirms a selection and resumes a print job.
  6. CANCEL - cancels the current print job. The time it takes to cancel depends on the size of the print job. This button also terminates menu navigation.
  7. POWER - Turns the printer off or on.
  8. Bi-color LED - Glows green when the printer is turned on, blinks green during printing, and blinks amber when the printer is in an error state. The bi-color LED blinks alternately amber and green to indicate an unrecoverable error.
